Seaview Manor is currently working on many different initiatives to better support, comfort and stimulate our residents. Below are a few descriptions and videos for some of the amazing ideas we are exploring and bringing to Seaview Manor.

Seaview Manor is happy to announce it has partnered with Futureworx and the Department of Labour and Advanced Education for a 2nd offering of the Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) program which started Fall of 2019.

Futureworx currently offers the CCA program in Truro, New Glasgow, Bridgewater, Tatamagouche, St. Peters. soon Inverness and here at Seaview Manor in Cape Breton. As the program at Seaview Manor is offered based on funding it is yet to be determined if the program will be available in 2020. Difficulties with communicating and performing everyday tasks can take a toll on elderly people with dementia. Helping people with cognitive disorders relax through soothing music and tactile stimulation can have a beneficial effect on their well-being and quality of life.

Snoezelen or controlled multi sensory environment is a therapy for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia or brain injury. It consists of placing the person in a soothing and stimulating environment.
